Launch of the SHERPA Project's Advocacy Mandate

At Think Digital 2019, the SHERPA project kicked off their advocacy mandate with a private lunch for policymakers. The SHERPA project aims to investigate, analyse and synthesise our understanding of the ways in which Smart Information Systems impact ethics and human right issues. Laurence Brooks, Professor of Technology and Social Responsibility at De Montford University, and Renate Klar, Communications Specialist at EUREC (European Network of Research Ethics Committees) had the chance to present the project in front of Members of the European Parliament, representatives from the European Commission, permanent representation of Estonia to the EU and more. This first event between policymakers and the SHERPA project has set in motion the advocacy mandate, working together to create new guidelines for the development of ethical Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies.
